Create Cooking Challenge: Easy Peasy launches March 5, 2024
Celebrity judging panel including Bridget Lancaster, Buki Elegbede and Sara Moulton to select the next public TV culinary how-to starBoston, MA (January 9, 2024) - Create TV today announces the launch of the 2024 Create Cooking Challenge, seeking new talent for an exclusive Create digital video series. This year's theme, “Easy Peasy,” focuses on cooking demonstrations of recipes featuring six ingredients or less. With time at a premium for many, Create is searching for talent that can contribute and demonstrate new ideas for recipes that require minimal ingredients and delivers delicious results. The “Create Cooking Challenge: Easy Peasy” opens for video submissions on March 5, 2024 and will close on April 9, 2024.
Culinary experts Sara Moulton (chef and host of Sara’s Weeknight Meals), Buki Elegbede (2017 Create Cooking Challenge winner and host of the upcoming Create TV series Table for All with Buki Elegbede) and Bridget Lancaster (executive editor and co-host, America’s Test Kitchen) will serve as final judges for the Challenge, seeking America’s next public media cooking talent.
Sara Moulton, host of Sara’s Weeknight Meals
Sara Moulton is the host of Sara’s Weeknight Meals, a public television show now in its 12th season, and co-host of a weekly segment on “Milk Street Radio” with Chris Kimball, answering questions from listeners. Sara, a protégé of Julia Child, graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 1977 and worked in restaurants for 7 years in Boston and New York. She joined Gourmet Magazine, first in the test kitchen, and then as the chef of the executive dining room for a total of 25 years. Concurrently she served as the executive chef behind the scenes at ABC's Good Morning America, prepping and styling all the food for the chefs and cookbook authors that appeared on the show, followed by 10 years as on-air food editor. Sara has hosted 1500 episodes of several well-loved shows, including Cooking Live, a live call-in show on the Food Network during that channel's first decade. She is the author of four cookbooks, including most recently, “Home Cooking 101.”
Bridget Lancaster, executive editorial editor and co-host of America’s Test Kitchen and Cook’s Country
Bridget Lancaster is an executive editorial director for America’s Test Kitchen. She’s known to millions of fans as a co-host of America’s Test Kitchen and Cook’s Country, which both air on public television. Bridget began working as a test cook for Cook’s Illustrated in 1998; she was also part of the launch team for Cook’s Country magazine and led the magazine’s recipe development. Bridget is the lead instructor for America’s Test Kitchen Online Cooking School and has created hundreds of instructional videos. In her earlier career she cooked in restaurant kitchens in the South and the Northeast, concentrating on pastry. She was inducted into the prestigious Disciples d’Escoffier culinary society in 2018.
Buki Elegbede, host of Table for All Buki Elegbede is an award-winning host, producer and content creator. Over the past 10 years, he has produced content for the likes of Health Magazine, ABC, Create TV, PBS and National Geographic. He is the winner of the 2017 Create Cooking Challenge with his 10-part digital video series, Baked by Buki. exclusively available on CreateTV.com. His new series coming to Create in 2024, Table for All with Buki Elegbede, is a cinematic docuseries focusing on culture, diversity & inclusion in the state of New Jersey through the lens of food.
These hosts enjoy popular success on Create TV, one of public television’s leading multi-cast channels, with more than 30 million adult viewers annually. The Create Cooking Challenge: “Easy Peasy” winners will be decided by these judges who will screen video submissions demonstrating each entrant’s presentation style as their recipe is prepared. The panel will judge submissions based on an entrant’s demonstrated knowledge, ability to present ideas succinctly, overall telegenic appeal, uniqueness, and production values. In addition to winning a cash prize and video production equipment, the Grand Prize winner will produce their own 10-part video series for CreateTV.com. Entrants can range from professional chefs to home cooks and their two-minute video submissions should feature their recipe consisting of six ingredients or less.
